Key Takeaways
Planning a honeymoon, an anniversary trip, or looking for a unique date idea? Some of the most recommended things to do in Oahu for couples range from sunrise hikes to quiet afternoons at the spa.
Most lists stop there. We'd add one more: a morning on a working cacao farm on the windward side, where the two of you learn where chocolate comes from and taste it together.
Some of the most recommended, classic romantic options for couples are:
These picks show up on nearly every list of the best things to do in Oahu for couples for good reason. And that's because they're easy to plan and hard to regret. But do keep reading, we have plenty more ideas to recommend for a romantic island getaway!
After a few sunsets, you may want an activity you do together rather than one you watch together. You've hiked the ridges and found your favorite beaches. A new date needs a new setting and a reason to talk.
A great, bonding, and unique date idea? Hands-on experiences with a small group and a guide who grows what you taste.

A sunset asks you to watch. But a chocolate tasting asks you to take part.
You compare notes on each piece. Does one taste fruity to you, and earthy to your partner? Which one would you both buy again?
Those small questions turn into real conversation, and it lasts well past the drive home!
You see, chocolate already shows up on anniversaries and Valentine's Day. So when you learn how it grows, that familiar treat gets a new story that belongs to the two of you.
We cover the broader case in Reasons to Go Chocolate Tasting on Oahu? Go give it a read, it's worth it we promise!
For a date that stands apart, visit 21 Degrees Estate, our family owned, veteran operated cacao farm in Kahalu'u on Oahu's windward side.
Hawaii is the only U.S. state that grows cacao. You can't take this tour on the mainland, which makes it a strong pick for a honeymoon or anniversary.
Our owners retired from the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force, bought the property in 2014, and planted nearly 800 cacao trees across 10 acres. You can read the full story on our Our Story page here.
Your tour lasts about 2 to 2.5 hours, and one of the owners leads most groups.
You start with a walk through the orchard. Cacao grows here next to canoe crops that early Polynesian voyagers brought to Hawaii, plus seasonal fruit like lychee, apple banana, starfruit, and mango.
Next, your guide cracks open a ripe cacao pod and passes it around. Most guests expect bitter chocolate. The fresh fruit tastes sweet and mild instead.
From there, you learn how that fruit becomes chocolate through harvest, fermentation, drying, and roasting.
The tour ends in our shaded tasting pavilion. You and your partner sample single origin estate chocolate, cacao nibs, cacao shell tea, and Kahalu'u Gold, a light honey our bees produce on the farm. Your guide runs the session much like a wine tasting, so you learn to pick out flavor notes together.
See the full tour outline on our Tours page.
Plan for a morning on the windward side. Tours run Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 10 a.m.
The farm sits about 40 minutes from Waikiki at 47-546 D Mapele Pl in Kaneohe. We're open by appointment only, so you'll need a reservation before you arrive.
For your visit, we do recommend you wear comfortable shoes. That's because most of the tour takes place outdoors on farm paths.
After the tour, you can of course, stop by our farm store for chocolate and honey to take home (in fact, we recommend it!)
Since you'll finish in the early afternoon, the rest of your day stays open for a beach or a sunset sail. What can be more romantic than that?

Reserve your spot ahead of time. Group tours cap at 30 guests, run three days a week, and spots fill quickly.
Tickets cost $74.50 per adult, so a couple pays $149 for the tour.
Celebrating a honeymoon or anniversary? Book before you fly so the date fits around the rest of your plans.
When you build your list of the best things to do in Oahu for couples, save a morning for cacao. It's the one activity on your trip where you'll both learn something new and taste the result together.
